Dr Alexander Borg qualified from the University of Malta in 1997, and trained in cardiology in Manchester, UK, gaining specialist certification in 2012. He obtained his post-graduate doctorate from the University of Manchester. He underwent further subspecialisation in cardiac imaging, including a fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease imaging at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Birmingham. He worked for 2 years as a consultant Cardiologist at the Manchester Royal Infirmatry, and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He took up a Consultant post at Mater Dei Hospital in 2014, where he helped to set up a modern cardiac imaging service, including cardiac computed tomography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, stress echocardiography and advanced transoesophageal echocardiography.

Dr Borg is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta and National tgraining co-ordinator for Cardiology. He lectures on cardiac imaging on various national and international meetings. He runs weekly clinics in general cardiology, provides emergency in-patient care and a state-of-the-art specialist imaging service.
